Every School Resource Officer (“SRO”) must complete forty (40) hours of school resource officer training through:
- the Indiana law enforcement training board established by IC 5-2-1-3;
- the National Association of School Resource Officers; or
- another school resource officer training program approved by the Indiana law enforcement training board.
Training must be completed within [one hundred eighty (180) days from the date the individual is initially assigned the duties of a school resource officer.
If the Delaware Community School Corporation has not established a school corporation police department or directly employed SROs, the Corporation will enter into a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a law enforcement agency employing or appointing a law enforcement officer who will do the duties of a school resource officer. The MOU will state the nature and scope of the officer’s responsibilities.
The Superintendent is authorized to establish administrative guidelines to implement this policy.
